Introducing the Second Tracks Program

Presented in partnership with the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, Blue Mountain Resort, and North Shore Ltd, we’re excited to launch the second year of Second Tracks — a barrier-free learn-to-ski and snowboard program designed to make snow sports more accessible and affordable for youth ages 12–16 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

This program is all about opening doors, building confidence, and creating unforgettable memories on the slopes.

Eligibility

Program Details

The Second Tracks Program is open to youth ages 12–16 who are eager to learn to ski or snowboard and may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience snow sports.

To qualify for the Second Tracks Program, you must meet the following criteria:

Reside locally (Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, or Clearview)
Be between the ages of 12 and 16
Have limited or no regular access to skiing or snowboarding opportunities
Have a desire to have some outdoor fun!

After confirming your eligibility, please click the “READY TO SHRED:

Register for 2025-2026 Season Here!” Button at the top of the page. You’ll be directed to the YMCA Registration Form to complete your application.

Program Details

Beginning Sunday, January 11, 2026, participants will experience the excitement of night skiing and snowboarding under the lights at Blue Mountain.

Each session includes a lift ticket, equipment rental, lessons, a meal, and round-trip transportation from the Collingwood YMCA—all at no cost to participants.

The program offers two four-week sessions (maximum 50 participants per session, first-come, first-served).

As part of our program, we are accepting gently used winter sports equipment. After an evaluation, donations may be eligible for a Charitable Tax receipt, which will be issued by the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.

If you'd like to donate equipment, please fill out the attached form and send it to info@secondtracks.ca.

Equipment drop off is at North Shore Ltd. 25 Sandford Fleming Drive, Collingwood, ON

If you would like to support the program through a financial donation, click the Donate button below. A charitable tax receipt will be provided at the time of donations. Scroll to the Designation section at the bottom and choose Second Tracks Program.

IMPORTANT DATES

Registration Opens: Monday, October 20
Registration Confirmation: Parents will receive registration confirmation by November 3rd for Session 1 and November 23rd for Session 2. 
Waiver Deadline: January 1, 2026
All required YMCA and Blue Mountain Resort forms and waivers must be submitted by this date to confirm participation.
Session 1 Orientation: Wednesday, January 7, 2026 – 6:00 p.m.
Mandatory for the participant and one parent/guardian at the Collingwood YMCA.
Session 1 Program Dates: Sundays, January 11 – February 1, 2026Bus departs Collingwood YMCA at 3:45 p.m. and returns between 8:15–8:30 p.m.
Session 2 Orientation: Wednesday, February 4, 2026 – 6:00 p.m.
Mandatory for the participant and one parent/guardian at the Collingwood YMCA.
Session 2 Program Dates: Sundays, February 8 – March 8, 2026
(No program on February 15 due to Family Day weekend.)
Bus departs Collingwood YMCA at 3:45 p.m. and returns between 8:15–8:30 p.m.

If you require assistance with winter clothing, please indicate this on your registration form — gently used jackets and snow pants are available in limited quantities.
